Q1 Checkup: The Business of LIFE

Q1 Checkup: The Business of LIFE

No matter your age, or who you are,  I have identified seven key areas in life that most successful people always address on a daily basis.   As the new year began, a lot of us set intentions for these areas of our lives.   So, with the first quarter wrapping up at the end of March, how are you? Where are you in making plans or achieving your goals?  Or, if you haven’t done so, it is never too late to Mind YOUR Business!

Here are the key areas to include:

  1. Mindset – Standing firm on the foundational life skill of self-awareness,  it is your perspective…it impacts your beliefs, thoughts, and emotions. Here is where we address and practice life skills,  and set goals for personal growth and development.  Your mindset dictates your life’s experience.  It is important to set goals to address fixed or limiting beliefs.

  1. Health – Well-being for the body through physical movement, nutrition, sleeping and brain health are necessary for survival.   You only get one body, and your mind controls it. Hint #1.  How we take care of it can impact our quality of life.  Assess your health mindset.   That may be goal number one.   Next, do a quick body scan and take notice.  Then, set a goal for each area of health.   What are you waiting for? Your life depends on it!

  1.  Spirituality – A sense of belonging and connection to something greater than yourself, whether that’s a higher power, religion, nature, art, music, a specific culture, or humanity as a whole. It is important to go beyond yourself and fulfill the innate desire of being part of a greater purpose.  Perhaps you may begin by setting goals in this area to identify your Spiritual mindset. Then set goals to cultivate it.

  1. Wealth & Finances– Money management and mindset determine whether we are surviving, maintaining, or thriving.  Goals here should include knowing your income and your outcome to help keep a balanced budget.  Also, review your numbers and make smart money moves.  Wealth is not just money in bank accounts, it includes assets, stocks, bonds, and investments.   Nurture a healthy money mindset.

  1. Work/school - Having work ethics, skills, knowledge, and the ability to create, imagine, and discover without limitations are key to advancement. Paid or not,  are you expanding in knowledge and wisdom?  How are you creating sustainable income? The first goal in this area is to determine your mindset on being a working, productive contributing member to your personal survival, that of your dependants, and society as a whole.

  1. Relationships with self and others – Check the quality of the relationships you have to determine your relationship mindset.  Are they in alignment with your greater vision and goals of how you want to show up?   Perhaps you need to challenge your relationships to elevate. It may be time to go outside your comfort zones and seek like-minded individuals who can continue to motivate you and push you to grow. Also, with a strong emphasis on reciprocity, cultivate meaningful relationships that allow you to be authentically you.  It’s not the quantity, it is the quality.

  1.  Life management - simply put, it is the utilization of life skills to create the structure and systems that you use to navigate successfully in life.  We love to label ourselves as a BOSS. So in the business of YOU, do you realize that you are the CAO, CFO, COO, and CEO? That means you are chief in the areas of managing the administrative, financial,  operational, and executive tasks required for your life. Continue or begin by assessing or creating a healthy life management mindset.  Setting and achieving goals in these 4 areas is the only way to achieve and then maintain work-life balance.  If you fail to plan, you plan to fail!

But, as life would have it, despite your most valiant efforts, your plans and goals for these areas of your life can go astray.   Even for some, in these first 90 days,  plans made for the New Year are off track.  Sometimes you can plan and do everything right and things can still go wrong.  And when they do,  many of us get stuck here. Being hyper-focused on the plans we have in play,  can blind us to the need to stop, assess and educate.  When we do so, we can determine if the next step is to reset the clock for the next quarterly tasks, maintain, and proceed forward or pivot.

As we pivot or persist, let us remember that setbacks are not defeats but invitations to evolve. Whether we recalibrate our strategies or realign our priorities, each twist and turn of our journey holds the promise of growth and renewal.
